Veteran producer Sujatha Vijayakumar has broken her silence amid serious allegations made against her by actor Jayam Ravi, her ex-son-in-law. In an emotional and long statement, she addressed the claims of being a “tormentor”, “gold digger” and “family breaker,” saying the accusations have left her no choice but to speak publicly for the first time in her 25-year career.

Vijayakumar clarified that she has never misused Ravi’s name or position for financial gain. Responding to allegations that she used his name as surety for loans, she said she personally signed countless documents, some even blank, to ensure his name remained unburdened. She revealed she had to borrow around Rs 1100 crore to produce three films with him: ‘Adangamaru’, ‘Bhoomi’, and ‘Siren’, with 25 per cent of the budget allocated to his remuneration and taxes.

Despite several personal attempts over the past year to reconcile, she claims her gestures have been misinterpreted as financial manipulation. “We still want him to be our hero – always,” she wrote, urging the media not to label her unfairly.

Ending on a personal note, she appealed as a mother and grandmother who simply wants peace restored in her family, saying she is enduring unbearable pain seeing her daughter’s home torn apart.

For the unversed, Aarti accused Ravi of being an absentee father, and spoke about the challenges she faced as a mother after the announcement of their separation. She also claimed that she had no emotional or financial support from him while raising their kids.
