
Patna: Bihar Police is going to start a citizen service portal to provide easy and secure access to services for the common people within a month. The portal will offer features such as FIR downloads, status updates on complaints, and information on wanted criminals, among others. Recounting achievements of the police, Amit Lodha, additional director general (ADG) of State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), while addressing a press conference here on Monday, said 1,378 zero FIRs (case that can be filed at any police station in the country) were registered through Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) across 968 police stations. The govt had announced plans to implement the CCTNS across 968 police stations last year.The ADG said, “The CCTNS portal is being utilised for real-time digital documentation and tracking of cases, allowing police stations to login and search through the Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) portal. This system is expected to streamline operations and improve the overall response time of the police force.”“From July 1 to Dec 31, 2024, a total of 627 FIRs were registered, and from Jan 1 to July 27, 2025, 751 FIRs were lodged through CCTNS. Training sessions have been conducted for police officers across various districts to familiarise them with the CCTNS,” he said.Additionally, the state has procured 4,344 cellphone/tablet devices for police personnel to facilitate the use of the CCTNS system. ADG further said, “Bihar has achieved a success rate of 87.99% as on May 2025 in implementation of new technology. The MedLeaPR App, integrated with the CCTNS, is also being tested to provide medical and legal services.”The final phase of the e-signature system is underway, which will soon be available to all police personnel for initial and final reports.
