Chelsea’s centre-back ranks could undergo a bit of a shakeup over the coming months. It is believed that the club are open to the departure of Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and even Wesley Fofana this summer. On the other hand, we have seen them being linked with multiple defenders as well.

Fans would like to see high-profile and Premier League proven names like Marc Guehi being brought back. But it looks like a Spanish centre-back has caught their eye as well.

Chelsea have already failed once trying to sign a Spanish centre-back in the form of Dean Huijsen, as he ended up joining Real Madrid. Now, it looks like things are going to be easy the second time around as well.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via Chelsea News), the Blues’ offer of €35 million for Mario Glla was knocked back. Not just that, Bournemouth’s €40 million bid was also rejected by Lazio.

It looks like Lazio are not open to the idea of Gila leaving this summer. Ot at least, they are waiting for their transfer valuation to be met.

Gila came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and like plenty before him, he did not get enough opportunities at the senior level. So, he left the Spanish club and ended up joining Lazio. That is where he has been able to establish himself as one of the best young defenders in European football.

Now, clubs like Chelsea are coming calling for his services. Now, it remains to be seen if he remains at Lazio beyond this season or not.

Of course, Gila is not the only defender Chelsea have been linked with in recent times. They seem have a long list of potential targets that includes Guehi, Tom Araujo, Jorrel Hato and Jarrad Branthwaite.
