The Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observation Centre, citing the United States Geological Survey (USGS), confirmed the quake’s epicenter was located at 24.49°N latitude and 93.7816°E longitude, approximately 354 kilometers from Dhaka.
Experts noted that due to the shallow depth of the epicenter, the tremor was more strongly felt on the surface compared to deeper quakes of similar magnitude.
Residents in Dhaka, Sylhet, and neighboring districts reported light shaking, but there have been no verified reports of injuries or structural damage. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
